Flight of the Hummingbird

Yes, the title of Elizabeth Gilbert’s presentation at Oprah’s Super Soul Sundays. I love what she says. Remain curious – you don’t need to be a martyr, you can fill your life with dainty, bright, and colourful strokes of inquisitive thought and vivacious journey instead. Besides, what is passion? In a recent interview with Marie Forleo (golden), he mentions, “If Van Gogh was born 20 years earlier or later, he may have not been a painter.” The point he is making is: Van Gogh jumped aboard the carousel (on a pony that just happened to match one of his aptitudes – a pony he was curious about, by the way) and he stuck with it the whole way through. But imagine that he didn’t try – if he didn’t stick to it. It’s not about blaming your ‘failures’. It’s about saying ah, this pony isn’t it? Okay, the next one I guess. (“If you can let go of passion and follow curiosity, your curiosity might just lead you to your passion.” – Gilbert) Life becomes a game, a light one, not a serious crazy one, in his words. Love it.
